Electronic Media Management 3 semester hours Problems of operating a facility involved in electronic media operations, including the social, legal, and economic responsibilities of the professional manager. The student is expected to complete the following objectives: Assigned readings in text, lectures, press reports on annual NAB Fall Radio Convention in Broadcasting and Cable, guest speakers, business press reports, and workshop attendance when announced by sponsors. The following are methods by which the course objectives will be evaluated: Two exams will count 40% each and 20% of grade will come from class reports and other forms of participation. An optional term paper may be arranged in consultation with the professor. A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=less than 60 20% of grade comes from reports evaluations and ability to answer questions related your own reports. Students will be given a professional/industry news source to read regularly and make frequent reports on management/leadership issues raised by story content. To understand and make a meaningful report students may need to undertake extra reading in texts, including textbook for this course, or in other sources. Other forms of participation may include attendance at university events and outside professional/industry events when appropriate. Attendance is required by University policy. After four weeks of absences your grade will be become an "F" as announced in University literature. Grade may be lowered for excessive absences over three. Because of the importance of being on-time and meeting deadlines, tardiness will be noted on the roll and may affect the grade.
